As some of you know, Lulu Blue is a junior in high school, and after years of thinking about it, we finally decided to go for it and try homeschooling. We did this when she was really little and I really loved the results. Once she started school, she attended public school from kindergarten until last year, so I wasn’t worried about the negative social aspects of homeschooling that can impede a kid’s development.
We started in October, and It is a lot of work. It requires a level of organization that doesn’t come naturally to us, and that means learning good habits (both of us!). Honestly, there really isn’t enough time in a day for me. Life is pretty crazy. Between work, my own school work, and the homeschooling, it’s pretty hard to find time to do anything else.
Despite all of that, I really think this is the best move for us. The hardest part is staying on schedule and making sure we don’t let too many unexpected things get in the way. If anyone has any tips, I would certainly appreciate the advice.
I think what I want to do is come up with a list of things that we definitely do not want to toss out due to time constraints. We have an extensive list of things that we absolutely have to get done, but it’s the little things that I don’t want to miss out on. The next year and a half should not turn into a complete nightmare where neither one of us has any enjoyment! Here I am, adding another task.
Love,
Maca
