I haven’t been posting as much as I would like, but life has been busy. There have been so many changes, and so many more still to come. I am trying not to stress too much, and enjoy everything. I’ll write more about it later. 🙂 It also occurs to me that I failed to update my New Year goals, whoops. here is last year’s, which shows what I managed to do, and this year’s goals. Chicago was on my list for the year, so in May I went to see it. Here are some pictures from the trip. Chicago is an interesting city, I absolutely love the architecture, the dizzying fire escapes, the old […]

Lulu Blue is 17, and I feel like it’s all going by too quickly. I just want to pause everything for a minute. I am lucky to have her. She is kind, which I think is one of the most important traits in a person. All the other stuff, the get-by-in-the-real-world stuff is learned as we face successes and challenges, but kindness, you either have it or you don’t, and she has it. That makes me proud.
The best thing about working in real estate is that I often get a chance to look at some amazing places that come up for sale in my area. The worst thing about working in real estate is that I often get a chance to look at some amazing places that come up for sale in my area. It’s a blessing and a curse. This incredible loft apartment came on the market recently, and I cannot stop drooling. I mean seriously. The exposed brick and concrete wall, the wood beamed ceiling. That huge window bringing in all the natural light, and I am not usually a fan of tiled floors, but these Saltillo tile floors are […]
Last weekend I took a little trip up to Grass Valley/Nevada City to see Devandra Banhart in concert, and it was every bit as wonderful as I had hoped it would be. The concert was incredible, completely worth the drive. I scored a signed copy of the Cripple Crow record! I stayed in a little vintage airstream, which was absolutely lovely. The tiny space was a bit intimidating at first, but I quickly realized just how little space I actually need to be comfortable. The airstream had a little bathroom, but they also had a composting outhouse, which was actually pretty cool. As a kid, I had a 200+ year old summer house in the […]
Summer is coming to an end, and it’s been yet another interesting one. I’m always excited when summer comes, but it doesn’t take long for me to get sick of the heat and start missing my sweaters, tights and boots. This year is no exception. I am so ready to say goodbye to the heat and feel the cool night breezes and some lovely rain. Of course, we haven’t had rain around here in some time, and the whole California draught thing is really starting to wear on me. I feel completely dried out. I miss seasons! But still, I know I’ll feel better when I start seeing the leaves turn and (hopefully) the creeks […]
Some things will never change! Flying can still be really fun and really uncomfortable, seeing new places will always take my breath away, big cities always make me feel completely free, and nature always makes me feel more peaceful. I got all of that over the past few days. NYC is beautiful! DC reminded me of some European cities I have been to, but NYC is definitely all American. Seeing the White House, and the monuments around DC was certainly a positive experience for me, but nothing like what I felt as I stood on the Brooklyn Bridge. I have wanted to see the Brooklyn Bridge since I was a kid, and obsessively reading anything […]
